I want to welcome everyone to my school.

However I have to recognize that this imposes some limits on us all. Lessons and events at the school are mostly PG rated - which means wearing uniforms and keeping language and behaviour within reasonable bounds. Public perception of the school is important to me and I hope this will help correct a few misconceptions and enable me to present the school to the public as what it is - Primarily: a school.

Sometimes we do a mature event - a clothing optional swimming party, for instance. These are always clearly flagged as Mature events and in future they will be advertised internally to the maid school group only. Because mature activity does sometimes occur in the maid school child avatars are banned from the premises. I deeply regret this necessity - I have nothing against child avatars or those who choose to role-play them - but the Community Standards dictated by Linden Lab (the owners of Second Life) impose on me a responsibility to ensure that child avatars cannot be involved in mature activity on my land. The only practical way to do this is a ban - If you wish to visit Bamika's Maid School please use an adult avatar and/or include an "in character" age of 18 or more in your profile.

Maids and their admirers in my school form a diverse population. We have furries, we have sissy boi maids, we have transgender folk, dominants, submissives, people of many ages, from different countries and backgrounds. Some members of the group work at various different activities in SL to make money. Personally I don't regard background, identity, sexuality or work practices as any reason for prejudice in my school.

I do, very seriously, try to make this a place where all are welcome. This is not something that "just happens." It requires everyone in the school to understand the rules and the necessity for them. It requires everyone to be accepting and welcoming to their sisters and our guests and visitors. And it requires that everyone work at tolerance and peaceful coexistence in our home.

Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management was first published as a book in 1861. It includes a detailed description of the duties of the Lady's Maid. Of the maids in Second Life more than half aspire to become a Lady's Maid - the personal servant of a Mistress.

In this lesson we will examine the picture of a Lady's Maid's duties as described by Mrs Beeton and ask how relevant it is to service in Second Life.

Lesson 11.1 Protecting yourself in SL
Unit: 11 - Second Life
28 January 2009

1. Protect your Real Life information. Do not give out information that could be used to blackmail you, or stalk you, or steel your identity. Only discuss your Real Life with those you trust, and only in general terms - tell them your country, not your city, your birth decade or age not your birth date. Ask yourself - Does this person have any right to know about my Real Life? If the answer is no, then say no. Never tell ANYONE your Credit Card Number, your SSN, or your password. Be extremely careful before telling anyone your real name.

2. Don't exploit others, and don't let yourself be exploited. Play fair.

2.1 Your money stays in your account. There is no excuse for a Master or Mistress demanding that you give them your money or land. That is unacceptable.

2.2. Don't give land, or money or expensive SL gifts to your Master, Mistress or Partner, or your friends. Don't ask for land, money or expensive gifts. Be wary of those who expect such gifts - or who insist on giving them to you.

2.3 Even in power exchange relationships there is a spirit of good will and equity which is very easily damaged if either person feels that they are being exploited. If you can keep money out of the relationship - or ensure that expenses are met equally - it helps to keep it a good, true relationship.

2.4 Don’t lend your friends in SL money, and don't beg for money from your friends. A friend who continually begs for money is not a friend. If you lend someone in SL money, count it as a gift to them - don't expect to get it back.

3. Take is slow. Everyone on SL is desperate, everyone is needy, but before you accept a Master or Mistress spend some time with them. Introduce them to your friends. Visit some social or spanking sites together. Talk about things that are important. If they don't want to spend time with you and you can't talk to them then it's certain that they're not right for you.

3.1 The quest to satisfy RL needs in SL is full of peril. There far more failures than successes. There is far more pain & sadness than joyous unions. Take it for what it is. Have fun!

3.2 Avatars in SL are real people with real human emotions. Treat people with respect.

4. Experiment to find your limits. Know what is right for you and what does you harm. Set your play limits in your profile and then stick to them. Be wary of sims that state they do non consensual play or ignore roleplay limits. Be wary of people who do not respect your limit. Decide on a safe word and use it, don't play with those who ignore it. In SL the ultimate safe word is the off swicth. If you CAN'T continue, hit the off switch.

5. If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Most scams are based on offering a deal that is far too good to be true. Be wary of any scheme that promises you a lot more money or Lindens than you put in. Never give anyone your bank account details or credit card number. Never trust anyone who says he knows everything and that he has got the only solution for you. Be wary of the beautiful person who suddenly turns all their attention and romantic charisma and efforts on you. Remember that everything comes with cost and a risk, and that some people lie.

6. Be honest, caring, positive and generous in your dealings with others. Do what is right and seek the common good. Your best defence against scammers, exploiters and abusers is your honesty and your compassion. Many scams depend on the target being selfish or dishonest. Even hostile or selfish people may be disarmed by genuine care and compassion. What you give to others returns to you. If you treat others right they will treat you right. By doing this you build up a circle of friends and a community of sisters who you know that you can trust.

Roleplay Fantasies Dirty Floor

A lowly maid's work is never done.

Sucess at last, the floor is clean!

Dirty Floor from Roleplay Fantasies is an automated chores system. The Mistress can set how often the chore resets and how long the floor takes to clean - The default is five minutes, but she can make it take longer. The dirty floor is a transparent alpha texture that sits neatly on top of any textured surface. When you touch it it provided a bucket and scrubbing brush which attaches to your hand and hip.

Sitting on the dirty floor starts the scrubbing animation. After five minutes the floor is clean... until next time! I do hope that Mistress is pleased!

Suggested improvements:

* Multiple textures so that the floor gradually gets cleaner, providing an immediate visual reward.

* Ability to customize the dirt textures allowing the substitution of custom bloodstains, cum stains, tentacle slime etc.

* A scoring system so Mistress (and everyone else) can tell who has been working hardest.

Bathhouse Extension Nears Completion

Work continues on a bath house extension for the school. The skybox extension is located on Lord Eclectic's land. The basic structure is almost complete but we will need to purchase bathing and massage pose balls and other equipment before the baths can be opened. Currently we're a little short on funds to do this.

I received a very late notice about a Market Day in Southend from Mr Jameson Despres:

With the holiday season upon, I have taken the liberty of engaging Radio Riel to play for us a suitable programme of holiday music for us and our guests (and customers) this Saturday, December 13, from 12 noon to 2 pm. SLT. I have given this event the title "SouthEnd Holiday Market... Plan to join us at the party and welcome Caledon and the Realm to our little piece of (retail) heaven!

With practically no time to prepare and hampered by the fact that our maid school now floats very high in the air - making it impractical to invite people in from the street - I decided that the best way we could contribute would be to get out and serve tea to the people on the street. This proved to be a very smart move.

I recently served with Miss Rosina at the Victorian Ladies' Society Christmas Ball and I'm beginning to realize that the simple act of serving drinks at a Caledon party or function is an extremely good way to bring favorable attention upon the maid school. It's also a good way to earn tips in it's own right.

I've been serving food and drinks from the kitchen at ECCHI for six months, and in the Temple in the Wilds for nearly as long. For a couple of months I've been hosting events and serving at the Dashwood. So for me it feels like a natural ordinary thing to do. But Caledon people are very impressed by the class and specialness a couple of polite and well trained maids can lend to an event, the tips roll in and so does the Patronage... It's just an unbelievably good way to publicize the School.

So in matching Victorian maid uniforms Miss Stina Edman and I set out to greet and welcome the crowds to Southend Holiday Market. It was a cold day with snow on the ground and I was glad of the warmth of the teapot in my hand and the long woolen long johns under my skirts. We walked a couple of blocks pouring tea for thirsty marketgoers before the party really began to hot up at the crossroads in downtown Southend.

Visitors were most impressed by the Ferris wheel at Southend Pier. The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the arrival of two Jaeger Magi on camelback. Apparently they've been looking for Bethlehem for 2000 years but somebody moved it, or held the map upside down or something. Attendance at the event was great, I was pleased to welcome Vicerine Kamilah Hauptman - imagine, me hobnobbing with royalty! - Mr Alastair Whybrow and his lovely fiance Miss Alexx McLaglen, the team from Radio Riel, the lovely Miss Muse Carmona and Little Miss Minako Masala.

This was a fun, successful event and I'm sure it will serve as a model for many more future events to showcase the bustling community of Southend.

3. When anything goes wrong it is the maid's fault - The Maid is Always Wrong.

4. Taking the Blame - Coping Strategies.

4.1 Jeeves: Go "robotic" on them. Answer every question with "Yes Ma'am," "No Ma'am" or "Very Good Ma'am."

4.2 Infinite Apology: The Japanese approach. I'm so sorry. I'm so very very sorry. I am such a terrible awful girl! I'm not worthy to serve you. I throw myself at your feet. I abase myself. I'm SO SORRY!!

4.3 Picture your Master or Mistress naked.

4.4 Do something to make things WORSE. If you're going to get the blame anyway then give them something to really blame you for.

4.5 Leave. Leave the scene - burst into tears and run away. Leave the job. Have a sudden unexpected "SL Crash" and make a cup of tea.

5. Roleplaying - Participants will take the role of Master and Servant and roleplay some scenarios to show how they can deal with blame.

5.1 Mistress is Displeased

Mistress has had a hard day, she's in an unhappy love affair and she doesn't see why anyone else should have a good time. Maid is dressing her for dinner, and Mistress finds fault with everything she does - wrong clothes, wrong hairbrush, wrong shoes, wrong stocking, corset too tight, hairbrushing hurts... Mistress finds fault with the maid - she's stupid, useless, hopeless, she should know better by now, she's terrible, she doesn't deserve to work here, she's a terrible maid and it's all HER FAULT!

5.2 Wicked Girl

Master is very fond of maid. He likes to fondle and kiss her when Mistress is out of the room. Unfotunately Mistress just returned and caught them in the act. Mistress is furious and screaming insults. Master says that Maid came on to him and seduced him. It's all the maid's fault.

5.3 His Coy Mistress

Mistress has had a few drinks and is feeling very affectionate and loving towards Servant. She wants him to make love to her and is getting increasingly frustrated that he doesn't seem to get the message. Servant does not want to make love to Mistress and is trying to ignore her behavior. Whatever happens it's going to be his fault.

Teaching A Lesson

My school will need teachers and, failing a horde of well trained and experienced educators appearing out of the woodwork it seems logical to me that I should train maids to teach their sisters.

Lesson X.1 - Teaching A Lesson
Unit: X - Education and Training
24 November 2008

1. Teach what you know.

2. Prepare your lesson in advance.

3. Use resources - Google, Wikipedia.

4. Make an advance organizer or lesson plan and publish it in advance. Give it to your students at the start of the class, along with any required material.

5. Review last lesson or the homework at the beginning of the lesson.

6. No more than four or five main points. The lesson should be summarizable in a single paragraph, or else split in two. The shorter the better.

7. Go through each point in order. Ask questions: why do you think we do it this way? How does that work? Why is it so? Engage your class, make eye contact. Ask different people questions. Use visual aids, music, roleplay!

8. Set homework if appropriate.

9. Have a review at the end. What have we learned? Any questions?

10. Update your lesson plan after the class and store it securely for next time. Update old lesson plans before the next lesson.

11. Review, Questions, Reflection. What have we learned? What could have been done better? How could this lesson be improved? Any questions?

Sir John Merlin

King Arthur caused the rise and demise of the ancient wizard family of Merlin. Having relied heavily on his magician’s sorcery in times of trouble he later found it troublesome as Merlin used it to defraud the Court Casino and House of Pleasure.

The King’s plan was simple he made Merlin and his descendants nobles, hence the ’Sir John’ of SL fame. No problem you think… the act of a kindly monarch….“not so” say the Merlins… you see there was a catch. Sir John’s knighthood was compulsory and carried with it an obligation to help good causes and forsake his fortune to achieve to achieve this end.

But it did not end there, a second facet of the knighthood created an enigma which was far more frustrating. It dealt with Merlin’s ‘magic wand’ and his liking for ‘fair damsels’. The combination of these hitherto assets were re-established in the following way: his wand became that stiff representation of a man’s manhood attached at the usual point and capable of meeting the needs of any/every fair damsel. But the downside was that when the fair, but dishevelled damsel, gasped and cried for more Sir John was obliged to state: “ I am a Knight and once a night is enough” (even though every other instinct decried this foolish answer).

Moving forward to the magic of SL… Sir John may now be found helping a good cause ie Bamika Maid School & charitable organisation. Fair maids should bear in mind that Sir John will happily help them in their enlightenment and learning but his reduced circumstances may mean that they cannot become rich from him alone. However there is a definite compensation flowing from his good nature, wit, conversation and appreciation of their assets.

Bamika's Maid School Rules v1.1

Bamika's Maid School is a home for wayward and unemployed maids seeking a position with a suitable household. This free school aims to train maids in service and provide them with the disicpline they require, until they are ready to find a permenant position in the household of a suitable Master or Mistress. The School is supported by the monthly contributions of its generous patrons.

General Rules

1. All members of the group must comply with the Linden Labs terms of service and the Land Covenant of Caledon. These rules exist within thins framework. If there is any conflict between the TOS or the Covenant and these rules the TOS and Covenant take precedence.

2. The Group Owner or her officers may eject anyone from the group and ban them from the premises for any reason - including things not in these rules. People who are banned may formally appeal to the Group Owner by notecard for their case to be reconsidered - detailing any reason why they should be readmitted. The Group Owner's decision on appeal is final. However she will try to act fairly, decently and reasonably in all cases, and she will explain the reason for bans to the person in question, and if necessary to the entire group. Any membership fees paid in advance by a patron who is banned - including days remaining for the month of banning - will be refunded.

3. Child avatars are forbidden from group land and premises. Adult activity and roleplaying occurs on the group land and this is incompatible with the presence of children or child avatars or babies. The avatars of all members of the group must be at least 18 years of age. You may roleplay pregnancy in the school, but babies - and therefore childbirth - are not permitted. Maids who get pregnant will need to go somwhere else to have thir babies.

4. Access to the group land and house is public and open. The ground floor is a public area, open to all including visitors. The upper floor is private and may only be accessed by group members. The top floor is the maids room and access is restricted to maids and the group owner. Maids may invite patrons (only) to their room, Patrons may not enter the maids room unless invited. Patrons must leave the maid's room if asked to by any maid. Visitors may be given a tour of the private areas by a maid or the Headmistress. Visitors may not enter these areas on their own.

5. All adult roleplay - roleplay involving sex - is to be done by IMs - Remember that we have neighbours. Shouting is prohibited in the school.

6. All roleplay in Bamika's Maid School is consensual. Ask for consent before playing. (Can we do X now? Would you like to do Y?) Never godmode or powerpose - Never say or write what someone else's responses, thoughts or actions are. (Such as: "I hit you and you fall down and die." or "I stroke your hair and you like it and smile at me.") Use of devices which control another's avatar without consent - caging, orbiting etc - are banned. Use of restraints that operate with the wearer's consent is permitted but restricted to the private areas of the school.

7. If someone asks you to leave them alone, LEAVE THEM ALONE. Harassment will not be tolerated. Roleplay here is consensual - anyone may end a scene here at any time for any reason.

8. Be reasonable in your behaviour. Remember that your words and actions may hurt others. Respect the people you meet here because they real people with real human value.

Rules for Patrons

1. To become a patron at Bamika's maid school you must apply and be accepted by the school. If successful you will be invited to join the group and be given the title of patron. Accepting this means you agree to abide by these rules, and entitles you to all of the rights and privileges of a patron at the school.

2. Patrons pay a monthly donation of 500L to support the school in it's charitable work of taking penniless people off the streets and training them to be serving maids and finding them positions. For the first month they will pay a pro-rata amount for the days remaining in the month.

3. Patrons are permitted free access to the ground and first floor of the school and all it's services and facilities - to have meals and drinks prepared and served to them, to use the lounge, dining room and ballroom, to use the bedroom, bathroom and spa. Patrons may set their SL home location to the school. They may not rez their own prims, furniture or decoration. Patrons must wear their group patron title at all times in the school so that they may be identified.

4. Patrons may enter the maid's room on the third floor on invitation by a maid ONLY. Patrons must leave the maids room AT ONCE if they are asked to by ANY maid.

5. Maids are encouraged to expect tips for service and good behaviour, and to be very kind to generous tippers. Never tip or pay money to anyone in the shcool who is not wearing a group maid title. Patrons are advised that tipping does NOT entitle then to anything and if they want any special services they should speak to the maid and make their needs known before giving generous gifts. Tips paid to maids are NOT refundable. If in doubt ask BEFORE you pay. Tips are paid directly to the maid - I do not recieve any of this money - I **cannot** refund your money.

6. Maids are NOT slaves. No-one may order a maid to have sex. A maid may refuse anyone for any reason regardless of tips. A maid's body belongs to her and her decision is final. A maid must not be ordered to kneel or to speak in third person while serving in public areas.

7. Patrons may offer maids live in employment, partnership or other permenant paid or unpaid arrangements. Any such arrangement is a contract between the patron and the maid - Bamika’s Maid School take no part in these contracts whatsoever, and accepts no liability to either party.

8. Basically the deal is this: You pay a monthly membership fee to support the school, in return you receive access to the school, use of the facilities and respectful treatment and from the maids. You are not entitled to sex, but you are allowed to ask, remembering that maids are mercenary creatures who expect tips. If you find a maid at the school who you think you could live with forever you are entitled to offer her live in employment, partnership, or some other kind of arrangement.

Rules for Maids

Flirting is allowed but adult behaviour must not occur downstairs.

3.2 Upstairs is an adult roleplay area. Maids may dress or undress as they deem appropriate - in maid uniform. Latex, fetish and "partial" uniforms are allowed upstairs.

3.3 Maids may dress as they please in the maid's room.

4. Patrons may enter the maid's room on the third floor on invitation by a maid ONLY. Patrons must leave the maids room AT ONCE if they are asked to by ANY maid.

The school does not take any cut from these arrangement, or have any interest in them, or accept any liability from either party.

7.1 Maids in the school are ASKED not to accept permanent employment or "employment like" positions as a maid from people who are not patrons of the school - and instead ask them to become a patron of the school. A potential Master or Mistress who values you should value you enough to join the group for one month to support your training and development. This is not a requirement, it’s a request.

8 Basically the deal is this – I provide you with training and skills, and a venue where you can meet patrons and earn money while you look for the perfect Master or Mistress. In return you help me by recruiting patrons whose membership payments keep the school going.

Bamika's Maid School is a school for maids like you dear, girls who are unemployed and seeking a position with a suitable household. Girls with an unfortunate past, no references and no prospects. This free school aims to provide you with the training and discipline that you require. It is supported by the monthly contributions of our generous patrons.

This is the culmination of a long cherished dream for me. At last there is a place for all those poor homeless and hungry girls to go where you may learn valuable skills for life and employment! A place for the bare footed flower selling girls and maids who are cruelly dismissed by callous and unfeeling Masters and Mistresses. Today is a great day for maids everywhere!
